About Melissa
I help people learn to trust themselves again because I know what it feels like to have life ask you to become strong before you feel ready.

The Bright Side of Life was born from a very real place. For a long time, I was guarded. I expected the worst because life had taught me to. After losing so much, it made sense that I became protective, skeptical, and sometimes pessimistic. I was trying to stay safe.
But eventually, I realized I did not want pain to be the lens I saw the rest of my life through.
When I named my podcast The Bright Side of Life, it was never about pretending hard things did not happen. It was about learning how to stop letting painful things harden me, and choosing healing, self-trust, and hope in a way that felt honest.
You can honor what you have been through without letting it decide the rest of your life.
I became a mom at 16. At 25, while raising my daughter, I lost my mom, who was also my best friend. By 35, I had lost both of my parents and found myself navigating adulthood, motherhood, grief, healing, and personal growth without the kind of support I always imagined I would have.
For a long time, I had to figure things out as I went. I learned what it feels like to keep going because people are counting on you, to carry grief quietly, to question yourself, and to wonder what life could look like if you finally stopped just surviving.
My healing journey asked a lot of me. It asked me to look at old beliefs, painful patterns, and the ways I had learned to abandon myself. It asked me to build self-trust when I did not have a clear map. It asked me to make hard, honest choices, including walking away from a long-term relationship when I realized it was no longer aligned with who I was becoming.
None of that was easy. But it was freeing. And it is a big part of why I do this work now.
My approach
My work is not about toxic positivity or forcing yourself to just think better thoughts. It is about compassion, honesty, self-awareness, and learning how to trust yourself enough to take the next aligned step.
